The Country Club of Virginia is a full-service private club located in Richmond, Virginia. CCV was founded in 1908, and since that time has been consistently recognized as one of the finest clubs in the United States. In 2012, CCV was voted the finest country club in Virginia and ranked fifteenth in the nation.
The club’s 7,400+ members support 1,111 acres containing two superb clubhouses situated seven miles apart, 54 holes of golf, 24 tennis courts (6 indoor), three squash courts, three paddle tennis courts, a 40,000 square foot fitness facility, five pools, a croquet field, and multiple dining outlets and special event venues. In season, CCV employs a staff of approximately 600 and has an operating budget in excess of $25 million. The Club’s motto, “An Evolution to Excellence Through Continuous Improvement,” can be seen in all aspects of the operation.
The Retail Manager has principal responsibility for all day-to-day activity of two golf pro shops. The position supervises a staff of 10-12 and reports to the Director of Golf. Annual sales in both shops total $600,000. The Retail Manager will purchase soft goods; manage inventory levels, hire, supervise, and train the staff; coordinate marketing initiatives; and design displays, among other duties. Creating an inviting and personalized shopping experience for the members will be key to success.
The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to recruit, train, and develop a first-rate retail shop team as well as the skills to creatively display and market merchandise. Management experience in the retail apparel industry is required (2+ years), and a warm and outgoing personality is a must. A background/education in fashion merchandising is a plus, as is an understanding of and appreciation for the game of golf.
