The Country Club of Virginia is a full-service private club located in Richmond. CCV is perpetually recognized as one of the top clubs in America as a result of its remarkable membership, world-class facilities, and exceptional staff. The James River Course is the site of the 2016-2019 Dominion Energy Charity Classic, a TOUR Champions playoff event.
The James River Course features A4 bentgrass greens and bermudagrass tees, fairways, and roughs. The 2nd Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Director of Golf Course Maintenance, Course Superintendent, and fellow Assistants to ensure member expectations are met daily. Responsibilities include supervising a staff of 22 in season, identifying tasks that need completion, scouting the course and identifying agronomic issues, applying fertilizers and pesticides, monitoring moisture and making irrigation decisions, and leading and participating in project work. Plans are in place to upgrade the irrigation system this winter to improve coverage and install a new Toro 2-wire system.
College degree or current enrollment in turfgrass program preferred.
Minimum of two seasons' experience in golf course maintenance required.
Virginia pesticide applicator's license or ability to acquire in first 90 days required. Experience in the transition zone preferred. Ability to speak Spanish a plus. Must have a good driving record and valid license.
